Studio Policy

2021-2022 Van Den Eykel Studio Policy

Thank you for choosing to be a part of my music studio! Music has been found to enrich the lives of all who participate in its creation or in its enjoyment. When you choose to take music lessons, you are choosing to learn a skill that will benefit you and bring you joy your entire life! In order to ensure that you or your student get the most effective and creative teaching possible, I have established the following policies:

Tuition Structure and Fees

Each lesson will be 30 minutes in length. Lessons need to be prepaid monthly. Payment will be due at the first lesson of each month.

Each student will also be charged a fee of $20 per semester. The fall semester fee will be due with November’s lesson payment, the spring semester fee will be due with February’s lesson payment.

Venmo preferred: BVanDenEykel      Cash or Check also accepted (made out to “Brandon Van Den Eykel”)

“What Does My Year Tuition and Semester Fees Cover?”

  • Time spent with the student during lesson
  • Time spent in preparation for the student: Trips to the music store, lesson planning, bookkeeping, development of curriculum, etc.
  • Your teacher’s training and experience
  • Recital costs and preparations
  • Professional organization memberships: Memberships are maintained by the teacher to enhance their teaching skills and provide the student with additional opportunities
  • Studio expenses: travel, copying, computer and iPad software, incentive programs, technology upkeep, etc.
  • Continuing education: Lessons and classes that keep the teacher current on methods and techniques
  • And much more!

Missed Lessons

If you know you will be unable to attend a lesson, please contact Brandon Van Den Eykel at least ten (10) days prior to the start of the month. If notice of schedule conflict is not given, the student forfeits that lesson time, no make-up lesson will be offered, and payment will not be refunded. If Brandon Van Den Eykel is ill, or needs to cancel a lesson for any reason, there will be no charge.

If students are only mildly ill, please contact Brandon Van Den Eykel by phone or email and a virtual lesson can be done during the student’s regularly scheduled lesson time (if desired). Another option is to give the lesson time to siblings.

Lesson Location

Lessons will take place at either the student’s home, Brandon Van Den Eykel's home, or virtually. There must be at least one adult present for the duration of the lesson.

Lesson Materials
Please have the following supplies at each lesson:

  • A notebook devoted to lessons
  • A pencil to write with
  • Any purchased books/ music
  • Any handouts received during lessons

Student Expectations

Regular practice is a necessary part of learning to play or sing well. A minimum of 15-20 minutes of practice, five days a week is required. Participation in performance/ recital opportunities is highly encouraged.

Termination/ Dismissals

If for any reason you choose to stop lessons, one month’s notice is required. Regrettably, I may have to dismiss a student if any of the following circumstances occur:

  • Failure to pay tuition on time
  • Uncooperative attitude
  • Failure to follow through with practice as instructed
  • Lack of progress due to insufficient practice or unfulfilled requirements

There will be a contract for you (and your parent/guardian if you are under 18) to sign at your first lesson, simply stating your understanding of this document. Thank you again for your interest in lessons! I am so very excited to get started! If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
